Introduction to Spiritual Lineage
In the tradition of Tasawwuf, a Silsilah (spiritual chain) represents an unbroken connection of guidance, transmission, and training that links a seeker back to the Messenger of Allah [Peace be upon Him]. It ensures that the teachings of spirituality are preserved in their authentic form and passed down through qualified teachers.
Shajrah Ma'rifat is rooted in established and recognized spiritual traditions, providing seekers with a path that is both authentic and reliable.
Our Lineages
Dr. Muhammad Amir Tariqi is primarily connected to two established spiritual chains through his respected Shuyukh:
- The Naqshbandi Mujaddidi Silsilah, received through Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Khan [Q.S.]
- The Qadri Suhrawardi Jahangiri Tariqi Silsilah, received through Shaykh Tariq Ahmed Usmani [D.B.A.]
These lineages represent centuries of spiritual scholarship, purification, and guidance, each with its own methodology while remaining firmly grounded in the Quran and Sunnah.
About the Traditions
The Naqshbandi Mujaddidi Path
The Naqshbandi Mujaddidi path is a distinguished and widely recognized tradition of Tasawwuf, known for its emphasis on inner awareness, sobriety, and strict adherence to the Sunnah.
A defining feature of this path is the practice of silent dhikr, combined with continuous mindfulness and vigilance over the heart. It emphasizes living within society while maintaining a deep inner connection with Allah.
Revived and systematized by Imam Rabbani Mujaddid Alf Thani [Q.S.], this tradition focuses on integrating spirituality with daily life, ensuring that outward practice and inward purification remain in harmony.
Through this balanced approach, the path nurtures clarity, stability, and constant awareness in the seeker’s journey toward Ma'rifat.
The Qadri Suhrawardi Jahangiri Tariqi Path
The Qadri Suhrawardi Jahangiri Tariqi path is a distinguished and exalted spiritual tradition within Tasawwuf, known for its emphasis on discipline, detachment, and deep inner transformation.
A defining feature of this path is its focus on Zuhd (detachment from worldly attachments), cultivating simplicity, sincerity, and reliance upon Allah.
It places strong emphasis on Mujahadah (spiritual striving) and Riyazat (self-discipline and training), along with practices such as Arba'een (spiritual retreat).
Through this structured discipline, the path nurtures depth, sincerity, and a profound connection with Allah, guiding the seeker toward true inner transformation.

Importance of the Spiritual Chain
A spiritual path without an authentic chain can lead to confusion and misguidance. The Silsilah serves as:
- Authenticity – Ensuring teachings are correct and rooted in tradition.
- Connection – Linking the seeker to the Messenger of Allah [Peace be upon Him] through generations of guidance.
- Protection – Safeguarding against innovation and misunderstanding.
- Transmission – Preserving not just knowledge, but spiritual states and methodology.
Through an authentic Silsilah, the seeker does not walk the path alone, but is guided through a living tradition of knowledge, practice, and character.
